Photo 13 Feb I recently upgraded to the Einstein 640s from Paul C. Buff, and I’ve been putting them through their paces.  I’ll be curious to try them at the Boston Derby Dames’ season opener later this month.  I’m thinking that I’ll try them out off of turn two and turn four and see what I can catch with their huge huge power, with some fill from my on-camera flash and maybe another off-camera speedlite for fill.  We’ll see how they turn out.
The real test will be shooting the team portraits the next day—probably four or five continuous hours of shooting.  Hopefully they don’t explode.  (They won’t explode.  They’re tanks.)  I’ll post links when those go live.

Photo 24 May Photos from the May 2010 Boston Derby Dames bouts are up.  This photo sums up how I feel by the time I winnow down the 1000+ images to what I like, then process, tag, export, watermark, upload, and launch the set.  Whew!  Glad it’s done.  Plus, just three weeks to the next bout.

Day 2 of ROFLcon at MIT. Photos from day 1 are up on my flickr account; I’ll cross-post here when I have the chance. Great panels yesterday, particularly the panel on race on the Internet and the “and then the Internet swooped in” panel with the owner of keyboard cat, David and his dad of David after the dentist, and Mahir I kiss you of yesteryear.

And… the site is up.  Still fiddling with Google Analytics, which was attached to the old site, and I have other site-specific tweaking to do, and more albums to add.  But for today, the work is done.  Drop me a line if you like it.

Tomorrow may be the day when the site goes live.  This week, anyway.  There will always be additional tweaks to make, and the backend for the site can be a bit uncooperative.  But there’s plenty of time to sort that all out later.  Right?  Right.

I finished editing my photos from the Boston Derby Dames’ March bouts last night.  I’m using Lightroom 3 Beta 2 to do the final export—mainly for the watermarking feature, though I’m finding that the new Beta is quite a bit faster than Lightroom 2.  I’ll upload them to Flickr this morning and hopefully have a chance to send them around to the usual suspects.  Looking forward to the next bouts.

Text 23 Mar Counting down until the new site

Building out the new site is progressing nicely, though it’s hard to find the time to pull all of the images together while editing all the photos taken at the Boston Derby Dames’ March 20 bouts.  Hopefully, I’ll finish the derby shots in the next couple of days and then be able to devote myself to getting the rest of my personal site online.

Stay tuned.
